📋 Purpose of the Grading System
The Ransford Professional Development Grading System provides a clear, fair, and consistent method for assessing and classifying learner achievement across all professional programmes. It recognises a wide range of achievement and supports learners in understanding their performance and progression.
📊 How Grades Are Reported
Ransford reports results using percentage score + letter grade + classification on its Statements of Results. For example:
- Score: 93.5% | Grade: A+ | Classification: High Distinction
- Score: 74% | Grade: B | Classification: Upper Credit
This three‑part reporting format ensures transparency and makes the transcript clear to employers, institutions, and professional bodies.
🎓 Programme Applicability
This grading system applies to all Ransford professional development programmes, including certificates, foundation certificates, intermediate certificates, higher diplomas, and other non‑degree professional programmes. It is not used for academic degree classifications.

The grading scale is as follows: High Distinction (90–100%), Distinction (80–89%), Upper Credit (70–79%), Merit (60–69%), Credit (50–59%), Pass (40–49%), and Fail (0–39%). Each grade carries a letter grade (A+ to F) and a classification that describes the level of achievement.
